Since a couple of weeks Project Patio started a new activity among
the adults of Complexo do Alemao. Through this sort of therapy
group we want to invest in a new fundamental targetgroup.
The adults of Complexo do Alemao.
The majority of the generation of grown ups that live in Complexo
these days. were born and grew up, living in the slum. They hardly
know the world outside of the favela and are able to tell for hours
about the many traumatic experiences they had growing up and
how they had to learn to live with all these dificulties and dangers.
Many of them lost their hopes and dreams for a better future.
The only reason they have left to live is to take care of their
children and grandchildren. Many think they have allready blown
the chances they had to have a good life, but they married the
wrong man and having children most of the time was the worst
thing they have done they say. But now it's to late... The only
thing left to do is to make the best of it until they die and try to
give their children the life they could never have.
Project Patio will through it's adults group promote a diferent
vieuw of life. We'll talk about the many qualities life can offer
and we teach them how to enjoy the little things in life like a
beautiful full moon again. But we also show the individual
qualities each one of them has and how they could improve
their lives using them. Soon we will start organizing special
activities outside of the slum so that the woman can see that
there are still so many things in the world that they didn't
experience jet and there is so much more to discover and
enjoy. We want to show their lifes arent even close to their
ends jet!
It is mostly housewifes and mothers that are interested in our
adults group. I think that is becouse of the brazilian culture
where man are realy macho and will never admit that they
sometimes need some help in life. But in the future we hope
to also have a mans group. But you will here about this when
the time has come!
